August 17, 2025 Update
For a while now, I have been using a Ground Rosemary in my Morning Routine. It absorbs more completely and contains other good things, such as rosmarinic acid, carsonic acid, and carnosol. I complement the ground rosemary with an Xanthohumol supplement, Ground Pepper, a UA supplement, and cranberry juice.
| The Ursolic Acid (UA)Strategy | These five items, each day |
| Ground Rosemary – 7% UA + more good stuff. Two or three heaping tablespoons a day | Birch and Meadow Ground Rosemary |
| Black Pepper – for piperine. One semi-heaping tablespoon a day | McCormick Ground Black Pepper |
| UA supplement – for high concentrations of UA – two capsules, twice a day | Barlow’s Ursolic Acid |
| Xanthohumol Supplement – synergystic effects with UA – one capsule, twice a day | Supersmart Xanthohumol Supplement |
| Cranberry Juice – natural UA and more – four ounces a day | Knudsen Cranberry Juice, or I buy it at Trader Joe’s for less |
| Other replacements for UA Strategy | For when something is not available |
| Hops Extract – If I cannot get Xanthohumol or it’s too expensive, I get this instead. | PURE ORIGINAL INGREDIENTS Hops Extract, (100 Capsules), Always Pure, No Additives Or Fillers, Lab Verified |
| Rosemary – started here. moved to Rosemary spice leaves due to cost and what gets removed. I take two of these, twice a day if no other rosemary is available. | Swanson Full Spectrum Rosemary – Herbal Supplement Promoting Immune Health Support – Natural Formula to Help Defend The Body & Support Overall Wellness |

The Science behind why the Ursolic Acid Strategy Works
The Ursolic Acid (UA) Strategy is essential for me because the research is so strong with respect to how it fights PC. Just in the first eight months of 2025, there have been over 700 scholarly papers published by university researchers, and almost 5,000 papers in the last 5 years. UA comes in many forms, and is supported by at least two things that I know about at this point, piperine, and xanthohumol. It’s essential to include supporting elements since UA has difficulty with respect to absorbability and hence bioavailability. Also UA stays in the blood for only 4.5 hours, so I take it twice a day. I suppose it could be more than twice, so maybe if I want to accelerate my progress, I might consider doing that.
Ursolic Acid (UA) sources
UA comes in supplements capsules, as well as a few types of Rosemary supplements, one of which is Rosemary extract capsules. That begged the question to me, what about Rosemary itself, and so the Rosemary flower, or spice on the spice rack, also contains UA (in a major way, I might add). And Cranberry Juice has UA. I like getting natural forms of things directly from the plant. There are many other things in the plant that have yet to be researched that I cannot help thinking will also be beneficial. There are other go to places for UA, such as apple peels, but I am currently content with my combination of Rosemary flower, a UA supplement, Rosemary Extract, and 100% Cranberry Juice every day.
My two UA “helpers” are rapeseed oil and black pepper (black pepper for piperine). They both help with improved bioavailability. I have recently read that the piperine helps absorbability by a factor of 10X (See Results, part-way down the first page), so I have increased my black pepper consumption to a full heaping teaspoon once a day.

This paper goes on to say the piperine also improves the plasma concentration and elimination half-life. Pretty awesome. So now I’m going with a tablespoon of ground paper a day.
The rapeseed oil is so expensive that I am dropping that going forward when this bottle is done. Rapeseed oil is $30 a bottle and lasts maybe 6 weeks, so it’s out after I think 3 bottlefuls. My black pepper is finely ground for its own complete absorption.
Xanthohumol is found in Hops and is mentioned often in UA research as having a synergistic effect with UA. I have a supplement for xanthohumol, and I believe it may deserve a category of its own as a strategy, only I haven’t had the time to research it more completely yet.
UA Strategy Costs
It’s an essential and non-removable part of my overall strategy at this point. $16 a bottle for the supplements. $21 for 2 pounds of flower. $12 for the Black Pepper. $6 a bottle of cranberry juice when it is on sale, otherwise it goes for $8 to $9 a bottle. So maybe all totals to $30 a month, or $1 a day. I have to do it. UA is one of the main two strategies, along with Pomegranate Seed Oil, that seem the strongest to me from the research.
Closing Thoughts
In summary:
- The UA Strategy is essential for me at this point.
- The UA supplement is a given. High concentration of UA.
- Dried Rosemary Flower is the cheapest way to get UA.
- It also contains carsonic acid, a strategy in itself. I need to do more research.
- It also contains rosmaranic acid, which I need to research more to see if it rises to a strategy.
- Rosemary Capsules and Rosemary Extract Capsules increase the UA
- Cranberry Juice is another form of UA
- I am going with the Ground Black Pepper as my helper for UA, dropping the Rapeseed Oil.
