Work keeps me busy, so I am combining months.
Month 9 starts with a return to teaching. It will be Calculus, PreCalculus and co-teaching an Integrated Math class, September through Mid December. So I finally have a free moment and am reporting out at the end of October for both months. Month 10 ends with me making my PSA test appointment at the end of November. Can I get another 20% drop to 2.6? (6.4 to 4.7 to 3.3 to ? )
I have been keeping faithful to my morning and evening supplement routines. I have also started monitoring r/Prostate Cancer on reddit.com. I find it quite shocking, these personal accounts of various ‘journeys’.
Update on Piperine found in Black Pepper
I no longer ground my own pepper. I bought some fine ground pepper and take ½ teaspoon every morning for the piperine, which has been shown to improve the absorbability of ursolic acid.
I have added Hops to my list of Supplements
In the process of re-researching ursolic acid and the other supplements that work well with it, I ran across hops (humulus lupulus), a spice that has been used as a flavoring in beer and other foods apparently since the 12th century.
Hops and its main active ingredient, xanthohumol, are well-documented as prostate cancer fighting substances.
Trying to Save Money on expensive items
While at first, saving money took a back seat to saving my prostate, now that I have some perceived breathing room with a 3.3 PSA, I have been thinking about more ways to save money on the more expensive items. The luteolin is expensive, but I haven’t found a decent substitute. Luteolin, along with Ellagic Acid, are strong compliments to the Pomegranate Seed Oil.
And the Ursolic Acid (UA) suppliment is expensive at over $20 a bottle for a one month supply of 300 mg a day. I am now getting it through at least four sources: The Ursolic Acid Supplement, Rosemary Extract Supplement, the Knudsen Cranberry Juice, and recently the Rosemary Flower Spice. I wonder which is the least expensive and what might be the benefits of multiple sources. I really do like the natural juices and flowers, as I believe they also contain many other substances that are currently not researched, so the Extract and the UA supplement remain to be looked at.
The UA supplement has a different source, the leaf from a tree, the Paulownia tomentosa, or Foxglove Tree.
The UA supplement costs $18 for 30 doses of 300 mg of UA =9 grams for $18 = $2/gram
Rosemary Extract costs $13 for 60 doses 500mg at 6% and then 50% of that = 0.9 grams or $14 a gram.
Rosemary Flower costs $7.40 for 227 grams at average 5% UA = 11 grams =$0.67/gram
So the Rosemary Flower comes in at the least expensive. Even at the low 3% amount the cost is $1.09/gram. And the high reported level at 7% is $0.47/gram.
