Analyzing My PSA Doubling Times

I took my PSA readings and the dates of those readings, and put that into a Google Sheet.  The PSA Scores are in Column D, and associated dates of each score are found in Column D.

This data comes from the Quest interface:

Looking below to the grid of data in spreadsheet form, Column C is the number of days between adjacent dates.  Comments in Column 6 shows PSA doubling calculation information and end with the number of years for my PSA to double from that test date.  This remains consistent right through January 2nd, 2024.  My doubling all of a sudden accelerated between October to January, rising 1 point.  And with a starting point of 5.38, my PSA doubling shrinks to a year or less.  Hence the recommendation of my urologist to proceed with the prostate removal.

When I get back my March 26, 2024 result and my PSA dropped, I have to go back to dates when my PSA was less than 4.69, such as November 7, 2022 and earlier.  My earliest reading was 2.6 in 2017, so at 4.69 it hasn’t reached double 2.6 = 5.2 yet, or in 6.45 years.

These PSAs are doubling in may more than 1 year, and now my number stands at a much lower starting point at 4.69.  Could that number double in 8 years to 9.38 ? At 78 years old do I now face the prospect of prostate removal?

I have to get back to this chart and add my new score and see what that means.

AFTER MY 3.3 PSA score

PSA doubling no longer seems to make much sense now, since I have to go back to October 2018, almost 6 years ago to get a number under 3.3
