Month 2

In Month 2, I reorder my Pomegranate Juice and get some Ursolic Acid because some research shows it slows down PSA doubling.

Experiments on PSA doubling slowing show Cranberry Juice works. I found an alternative in glass; originally it was in plastic. Here is the one I use as of month 8.

To further crush my milled flaxseed, I use my Ninja blender. Flaxseed is one of my great hopes at this point, so I want to possibly improve that benefit.

I’ve been eating a lot of broccoli since I read it’s the miracle “super food”, and I worry it’s not enough and I need a supplement to get the high concentrations in the blood necessary to be effective. The best known active ingredient is Sulforaphane, so here is my supplement for that.

I’m also making my own tomato sauce out of Roma tomatoes, which I cut in half and put face down in a pan of some olive oil, basil, oregano, and thyme, all strong antioxidants. I smash up fresh cloves of garlic in between the tomato halves in the pan. Pans are not the teflon type that I say poison me. And I buy more research supplements

The spice turmeric has curcumin, which is well-researched to fight prostate cancer and improve the bioavailability of ursolic acid.

I later learned Rosemary is a strong contributor of ursolic acid. I buy some supplements directly from Swanson because they are cheaper there if you buy at least a certain amount. Swanson deals vary almost daily, with anything from 20 to 40 percent off, and different dollar amount thresholds to get free shipping.

I buy and rebuy these

Sometimes I run out of fresh garlic, and so I have this for those emergencies.

Basil is one of the three spices that go into my tomato sauce after the olive oil. The other two spices are oregano and thyme. Then the Roma tomato halves go on top of that and finally the garlic in the spaces between tomatoes. Roast on a low heat for 30 minutes or more to a light boil.  I gently grind them some in my Ninja blender.

I allow myself a snack of Fritos. They have only 3 ingredients,  corn, vegetable oil, and salt.  That to me is solid. No funny stuff that you need a Chemistry PhD when reading the ingredients.

Sometimes I cannot find my Luteolin Supplement, so I buy a substitute. Of course, shortly after I buy the substitute, my favorite becomes available. I try to buy ahead so I don’t miss out. I like the gel caps over the dry caps. They often have higher concentrations.

The two top most important things for me at this point to keep strict on are the PSO, Luteolin, Ellagic acid combo, and the Milled Flaxseed.

More Juice.  I’m ready for Month 3

Closing Thoughts

In summary:

  • I have taken the time to seek out quality foods and supplements. My pomegranate juice is not from concentrate, has bits of pomegranate in it, and ships in glass bottles.
  • I add rosemary for a high concentration of ursolic acid in its natural form.
  • I add a turmeric supplement for the curcumin which fights prostate cancer.
  • I add a sulforaphane supplement to increase the sulforaphane I get from broccoli, a super food.
  • Remember, I like high concentrations of items that show the strongest fight against prostate cancer in the Google Scholar Research.
  • I prefer gel caps over dry as concentrations are higher and it seems more natural with additional antioxidants included. (Luteolin)
  • Fritos are my go-to snack.  Only 3 natural ingredients: Corn, Corn Oil, and Salt.

  1. You may want to consider BROQ. And in any event go to their website and check out what is actually in other brands that were tested. ALso here is the published study on this product. I take this (US version) made in France. Not cheap but if one follows dose (results are dose dependent) should get the results.

    1. Hi Scott,
Thanks for that lead. I have starting looking into it. I try to eat at least one broccoli crown a day. It’s always good to be skeptical of what is in a supplement. I don’t consider the Sulforaphane Strategy to be a major one for me, but who knows? I am doing everything all at once, with no time to just try and tease out which are most effective. I see this was published in 2015. It will be interesting to look at papers which cited this one and see if these ideas have been pushed long further.

    2. Thanks for the lead. I will keep it in mind. I’m headed in the right direction now and feel like I have some breathing room, so I am using that for some cost reductions actually. But as you may know, things can change without a moment’s notice, and I will be back here reassessing what I am doing if I need to turn things around again. Thanks again. I appreciate it.

  2. Garlic is best eaten raw – heat destroys its beneficial effects. Follow Dr Greger on this and just about most all on nutrition bioavailability.

    1. Raw is almost always best I have learned. My garlic is largely always cooked, so I am loosing out some there. Something to think about improving for myself if my numbers stop going down as well as has been happening. Thanks for the feedback.

  3. The high amounts of sugar in pomegranate and cranberry juice can be problematic, as sugar feeds cancer cells. The vegetable oil in the Fritos contains omega 6 which is unhealthy if it surpasses omega 3.
