In particular, I have wondered about getting a ground version for more thorough ingestion of the ursolic acid it has been meant to replace. But the closer I have looked at Rosemary, the more I learn.

From the last report, I came up with the following analysis:

The UA supplement costs $18 for 30 doses of 300 mg of UA = 9 grams for $18 = $2/gram

Rosemary Extract costs $13 for 60 doses 500mg at 6% and then 50% of that = 0.9 grams or $14 a gram.

Rosemary Flower costs $7.40 for 227 grams at average 5% UA = 11 grams =$0.67/gram

So the Rosemary Flower comes in at the least expensive. Even at the low 3% amount the cost is $1.09/gram. And the high reported level at 7% is $0.47/gram.

Updated Analysis

I did find a few ground versions of rosemary, and chefs liked it because it saved them time. The price was still around the other Rosemary Flower products, but then I ran across one where if I bought 2 pounds of the unground Rosemary, I could get that for $21.

So I ordered that and I am using that now. I grind it up one Ninja at a time and store in a glass bottle. What an intoxicating smell. Two heaping teaspoons during my morning routine. I put that, the black pepper, and the flaxseed into a bowel, and mix in the 4 oz of Pomegranate juice to make an awesome slurry. Two swigs of the cranberry juice which is so mad sour, it makes the slurry seem almost sweet.

That gives me another analysis: This new Rosemary Flower costs $21 for 908 grams at average 5% UA = 44 grams =$0.48/gram.

I also took this opportunity to get out my Ninja blender (any blender that chops up dry leaves well will do), and grind up the remaining part of a jar of Rosemary. Results were good, and I am taking a heaping tablespoon every morning, and sometimes another heaping tablespoon at night with my second regiment of supplements.

Further research into Rosemary yielded information on Rosmarinic Acid and Carnosic Acid. While I did not see much research into Rosmarinic Acid with respect to Prostate Cancer, I did see a lot (856 for 2024 alone!) on how helpful Carnosic Acid is in my fight against Prostate Cancer. One summary article in particular published in 2024 is available here. A second article states that Carnosic Acid in concentrations of only 5uM was sufficient to stop PC cell growth, and at 30uM was sufficient to kill CA cells. This second article discusses the causes of cancer as DNA mutations that promote uncontrollable growth while a cell loses its ability to kill itself. It also mentioned epigenetic causes, or reversible re-functioning of the DNA owing to malnutrition and other factors. These causes are reversible just by changing what I consume. To me this is a big deal. Does this have anything to do with inappropriate protein folding? If so I like to think I understand the mechanics of proper protein folding and the difference in biochemical reactions that can occur. More of that please.

Reexamining Hops

As month 11 begins to come to a close, I return to hops, which I have been taking for the last 2 months or so for its ursolic acid. I am zeroing in on the xanthohumol.

Xanthohumol is in low concentrations in the hops, as xanthohumol looks to be a major reason why hops is effective. So I find an xanthohumol supplement and incorporate it into my regiment. WoW that one is expensive, but you know what? I still have my prostate and all that that means to me. I can back away from expensive supplements if and when I see a tumor in remission, meaning a tumor no longer increases in size.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. OMG tomorrow morning is the next PSA test. I might say wish me luck, but I know that it has very little to do with luck, and I believe it has mostly everything to do with what I have been up to over these last few months.

Discovering Black Cumin Seed Oil

And as month 11 actually does come to a close, Thanksgiving Day company has a surprise for me as I more than casually mention what I have been up to nutritionally. “Have you tried Black Cumin Seed Oil ?” I look it up on my phone, and I see it contains nigella sativa. Preliminary analysis seems positive. I will do more research when I return home.

And now on Black Friday, I have returned from my 6:40 am PSA blood test appointment, so I suppose Month 12 will begin with my reporting out on my latest PSA score. Can I continue to drop the PSA number? I certainly have continued the previous course of action as well as added a few new PC fighting ingredients.

Closing Thoughts

In summary:

Revisiting research topics confirms prior knowledge and can lead to other things.

Rosemary contains Rosmarinic Acid and Carnosic Acid, as well as Ursolic Acid

Carnosic Acid is another well-researched and strong fighter of Prostate Cancer as well as other cancers.

A two pound Rosemary flower bucket is my new and improved alternative to a UA supplement.
